Red Dress 04:39
Mangroves waiting for the tide coming in, coming in, In the mist the Red Dress hides waiting, waiting Bringing love and darkness both, calls it in, calls it in, Waiting for her night’s betrothed Rolls him in, rolls him in And the Red Dress takes the night Fills it with her perfumed tide, Tender love songs of the dead Bringing love sick men to her drowning bed He smells her sweet perfume floating, floating Hears her sweet and muddy tune singing, singing Sees the scarlet of her dress drifting, drifting Tastes her fiery tongue’s caress drinks it in, drinks it in She takes him to her breast rocking sucking As his earth life lays to rest sleeping dreaming And the tide will take them deep stealing stealing And his earthly soul will sleep dreaming dreaming To her bed of sea grass soft lying laughing She holds her dying man aloft screaming weeping Where he lies forevermore crying sighing Miles from the Mangrove shore Dreaming, in her cold and tender law And the Red Dress takes the night Fills it with her perfumed tide Poison fingers on his cheek Drawing blood to make him weep Icy kisses on his lips She swings her savage barren hips Tender love songs of the dead Bringing love sick men To her drowning bed.

Marie 04:42
She left in the dead of night When all but her heart was quiet She left for the sea. Her passage ticket in her pocket Her mother’s picture in a locket One more refugee. Her family hungry and poor Her country torn apart by war She hid in the back of a smugglers van, They drove for days to the coast To meet the small leaky boat They put their lives in the hands of fate And faith would keep them afloat O Marie! Marie! Never again would she see, Marie, Her home or her dear family, Marie Her life would begin on the sea, She gave all for the hope to be free. It was the first time she’d seen the ocean Her heart was taken by its motion And the way that it rocked, and it sang, and it moaned, When the tiny ship set sail, the other passengers began to wail Goodbye! goodbye! goodbye! to my home... But Marie could never look behind The sea already took her heart and mind On the sea she felt she was halfway home. When the sky grew dark and violent And the crew grew dark and silent Marie let her mind sing and dance and be tossed by the foam, She’d already found her way home... O Marie! Marie! Never before had she seen the sea, Enchanted and drawn by its deep mystery It was love at first sight It already set her heart free Like the stars free the night. No matter how the rain and wind would blow She never sheltered in the hold below The other passengers left her alone. Day and night she stayed on deck Holding the locket round her neck And whispering to the waves, to the foam. So when pirates came one night And the crew began to lose the fight Lose the promise of a new life, A new home Marie felt her freedom saved As she leapt laughing into the waves Into the waves, waves And sank like a stone She’d found her way home She was free O Marie! Marie! Enchanted and loved by the sea Marie, It held her and let her be free, Marie, It rocked her and rolled her to sleep It gave her a home in the deep O Marie! Marie! Enchanted and loved by the sea, Marie Drowned in its deep mystery, Marie It was love at first sight It set her heart free Like the stars free the night

Anya 05:09
Anya He gets lost in her eyes They’re pretty as a wing They’re deep as a world She makes him sing She looks at him straight And he’s gone gone gone Already its too late Already it feels wrong And he knows he don’t belong So he stands on her verandah Waking up the town Anya! sweet Anya O won’t you come down? But she’s barred her doors against him She doesn’t understand The fury of his love, this tormented man This tender man She burst into his world Trailing the sun She’s only a girl but he’s made her the one And he just wants her to see him See into his true heart But she just turns away And it’s tearing him apart So our fading town awakes To his anguished pleas Anya my Anya Your love could set me free And though I’m nearly broken For you I will be strong And if you can’t accept my love Then please accept my songs And he sings on her verandah Waking up the town Anya! sweet Anya O won’t you come down But she’s barred her doors against him She doesn’t understand The fury of his love This tormented man this good man
